FaBA Program
At Fatherhood & Basketball Academies, we utilize the love of basketball to build stronger father-child relationships and uplift entire communities.
Program Overview
FaBA is delivered through local basketball academies during the youth basketball season. While children ages 10–12 are in basketball practice, fathers meet nearby, often over a cup of coffee and snack, for guided, coach-led discussions focused on fatherhood and family relationships. The result is a supportive community where men learn from one another, build friendships, and gain practical insights that help them grow both as fathers and as role models.
FaBA programs are hosted through local basketball academies, basketball clubs, and schools, making them easily accessible within the communities they serve.
Fathers whose children are involved in the host basketball program are invited to participate in the FaBA sessions.
Participants take part in a series of six meaningful one-hour sessions held from October through December. Fathers gather twice a month for each session.
The meetings are informal, welcoming gatherings where fathers connect in a relaxed environment over coffee and a light snack. Each session provides space to share experiences, build relationships, and discuss basketball, fatherhood, and the everyday joys and challenges of raising children.
Each conversation focuses on a specific theme connected to one core basketball principle, helping fathers explore lessons that apply both on and off the court. These principles translate naturally into fatherhood—responsibility, awareness, defense, discipline, encouragement, and cooperation.
Sessions are facilitated by coaches from the host academy, club, or school who have completed a training tutorial provided by the National Fatherhood Initiative®.
