FaBA: FATHERHOOD AND BASKETBALL ACADEMIES

Fatherhood Built on Basketball Principles

Basketball as the Framework for Positive Social Impact

Father and Basketball Academies (FaBA) is the first nonprofit initiative designed around the global principles of basketball—using the game as a framework to strengthen father-child relationships and build healthier families.

Yet many fathers lack:

  • Support from other men

  • Practical spaces for conversation

  • Guidance that feels relevant and respectful

At the same time, youth mental health challenges are increasing worldwide. The challenge is global. The opportunity is local.

How FaBA Works

While children attend practice, fathers meet nearby for coach-led conversations about fatherhood, guided by the global principles of basketball. The six-session program is simple, empowering, and designed to scale across communities.

Basketball is a global language with shared values.

FaBA translates these six values into practical fatherhood conversations and experiences and the foundation for the program sessions.

The Program

FaBA meets fathers where they already are. It is a structured community experience built around the game and commitment to children.

  • Children (ages 10–12) attend basketball practice

  • Fathers gather nearby (often over coffee)

  • Guided conversations on fatherhood take place by trained leaders

  • Discussions are purposeful, structured, and coach-led

  • Sessions run 6 weeks (September–December)

From Basketball Values
to Life Lessons

First Year Success

“Basketball and fatherhood are universal languages. They share common principles that transcend borders, cultures, religions and backgrounds. Basketball has the power to unite fathers around the world—to strengthen families and shape future generations. It was created to make men better, as its founder intended (Dr. J. Naismith). FaBA empowers fathers for better future generations.”

— E. Rogakos Director, FaBA
